PRINCIPAL NOTES Plan a very special start to this Mother's Day, May 11th, by attending the 7th Grade Commissioning of Confirmation Candidates 2009 during the 9:15 Pentecost Sunday Family Mass. There will be hospitality following the Mass.
Congratulations to our second graders who will be receiving their First Holy Communion this Saturday, May 12th at 11:30 a.m.

Thanks to our wonderful parents from the FSA for the spectacular luncheon they prepared for us on Teacher Appreciation Day! The meal was delicious, the favors were adorable, and the gifts were very much appreciated by us all!
We are so proud of our 8th graders! They created a magnificent play for all of us to enjoy. Our 8th graders are very talented actors and writers…they each deserve to win an Oscar! Thanks to Mrs. Bailey and Mr. Reynolds for helping them perfect their performance.

OUT-OF-UNIFORM We will be having an out-of-uniform day on Wednesday, May 14th with a minimum donation of .50 cents to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. See enclosed flyer for details.
MASS FOR EXPECTANT MOTHERS Come celebrate Mother's Day with Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I. on Sunday May 11, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Moore Parish, 2825 W. 81st Street, Chicago, IL, 60652. This celebration will begin with a May Crowning immediately followed by the Sacred Liturgy. A reception will follow. All expectant mothers will receive a special blessing from Cardinal George, as well as a silk rose, medal, and holy card of St. Gerard, Patron Saint of expectant mothers. Prayer For Motherhood
O good St. Gerard, powerful intercessor before God and Wonder-worker of our day, I call upon thee and seek thy aid. Thou who on earth didst always fulfill God’s design, help me to do the Holy Will of God. Beseech the Master of Life, from Whom all paternity proceedeth, to render me fruitful in offspring, that I may raise up children to God in this life and heirs to the Kingdom of His glory in the world to come. Amen
HOME RUN INN PIZZA DAY Our last pizza day for the school year will be held on May 22nd. Each student was given an order form today. Forms and payment are due back in the office by May 19th.
AUGUST/SEPTEMBER HOT LUNCH Order forms for August/September hot lunches have been sent home today with students in grades Preschool-4 through 7th. Menus are included in this tidbit. Food Service Professionals (FSP), our hot lunch provider, has increased the cost of next year's lunches to $2.45 per day. Those eligible for reduced lunch for their students will continue to pay 40¢ per lunch ordered and milk remains at 35¢. If you are currently covered under the Free & Reduced program, your coverage continues through the month of September, but you will need to reapply once school is back in session.
TRANSPORTATION REIMBURSEMENT Time is running out for all qualifying families grades K-8th! Be sure to come to the school office to apply online for the transportation reimbursement before the last day of school. EVEN IF YOU HAVE RECEIVED A SAFETY HAZARD APPROVAL LETTER, YOU MUST STILL COME TO SCHOOL AND FILE A CLAIM. The computation has been done for you. As long as you know the mileage from your house to school (one-way), you can find out the dollar amount when you come to the school office.
MARKET DAY NEWS The Market Day team would like to thank the First Grade Families and other volunteers who came out Saturday and helped with our sale[] What a GREAT crew you make! This month's sale raised $434.30 for our school. Our next sale date is May 31st. Stay tuned for details on our May contest!

MANNA SUMMER ORDERING SCHEDULE During the summer months, orders will be due at 3538 Prairie Avenue (please place in the mailbox) by 10:00 am on Monday mornings. Orders will be available for pickup at the same address on Thursday mornings after 10:00 am. The ordering schedule is as follows: June 2nd, June 16th, June 30th, July 21st, August 4th, and August 11th. The schedule can also we found on the school website. Inventory will be available at all times EXCEPT the weeks of July 7th and July 14th.
