ST. BARBARA SCHOOL
THURSDAY TIDBIT

God’s Words Guide Us       March 2, 2006

PRINCIPAL NOTES: Please mark your calendars for our Parish Missions to be held on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, March 13th, 14th, and 15th. All are welcome to attend.

Please try to join us on the Fridays during Lent for the Stations of the Cross beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Our 8th graders together with the 8th grade students from our Religious Education Program spent a day of retreat last Monday with Fr. Tom McCarthy, President/Principal of St. Rita High School in preparation for Confirmation.

Our Irish Fest is fast approaching. Please plan on attending. Remember, you don’t have to be Irish to come and have a very enjoyable time! This is a great way to get to know other school parents.

TERRA NOVA TESTING will begin on Monday, March 6th through Thursday, March 16th in grades 2, 3, 5, 7 and 8. It is very important that the students are in school for testing. We ask that the children are well rested and that they eat a good breakfast. Students should have a few well sharpened #2 pencils for completing test answers.

REMINDERS:
Monday is Silly Hat Day to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday! Wear a silly hat with your uniform.

Tuesday is out-of-uniform (dress down) to benefit the Muscular Sclerosis Foundation. We want to show our support by bringing in our donation of 50 cents or more to support this worthy cause!

IRISH FEST:

Tickets will be on sale until Friday, March 3rd. You can purchase your tickets to Irish Fest through the school office or by calling Dana Veselsky at 485-9984.

PIZZA DAY:
The next Home Run Inn Pizza Day will be held on Friday, March 24th. Since this will fall in the Lenten season, only Cheese pizza and Crazy Bread Sticks will be available. We will also be changing the cookie choice to Snickerdoodle, a cinnamon cookie, to help the students that might have given up chocolate for Lent. Order forms for the March 24th lunch and any credits from the February 16th Pizza Day were sent home with students today. If you have any questions, please call Nancy Brown, 387-7337.

MARKET DAY: Thank you to our 1st graders and their parents for all of your help last Saturday. This month Market Day is having a contest. If we increase our dollar sales and number of orders by 10% over last year we win a freezer! If you have never ordered Market Day before, this is the month to try it! Lent is here and the Krispy Krunchy Cod is excellent, can be made in a toaster over and is great in a sandwich! Please take a look at the Market Day form this month and check out the specials. Thank you for your continued support!
