God’s Words Guide Us              March 9, 2006

PRINCIPAL NOTES:  On Wednesday, March 22nd, we are hosting the Leadership Day for all principals in Vicariates 3 & 4.   We will not be able to use the Parish Center parking lot on this day.  I apologize for the inconvenience.

Congratulations to Sister Margaret Haligan who was a recipient of the Community Leader Award presented by Congressman Daniel Lipinski at a banquet last Friday.  This award is much-earned and well overdue.  We thank Sister Margaret for all her hard work in helping those that are less fortunate.  She truly does the work of God and should be an inspiration to us all!

Please watch for a letter coming home today under separate cover regarding the Spring Casino Nights.  It is VERY IMPORTANT that we ALL cooperate and help out at these functions as the profits help to keep our tuition cost down.  Please fill out the form and return it through the school office as soon as possible.  Thank you.

Regarding the MANNA CERTIFICATE PROGRAM…Please remember that ALL orders are due Monday mornings by 9:00 am when school is in session, Tuesday mornings by 9:00 am when we are closed on Monday. Any late orders will be held until the following week for processing! Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

TRANSPORTATION REIMBURSEMENT:  All claims for Transportation Reimbursement must be transmitted to the Illinois State Board of Education electronically by the school.  Please read the enclosed information carefully before coming to school and entering your information.

The school computer will be available on all school days during school hours from Friday, March 1st until dismissal on the last day of school (Wednesday, June 7, 2006) in the school office. We suggest that you do this as soon as possible so you do not forget. Please have your computations completed BEFORE you come to fill out the form.  They have raised the cost to 40.5 cents per mile.  You can use Map Quest to find the distance from home and school.  This is how the Illinois State Board of Education confirms the reimbursement amount. To compute mileage reimbursement when driving children to school, multiply the distance between home and school by four, then multiply the product by .405.  This is the daily cost.  Multiply the daily cost by 176 (the number of school days).

If you live less than 1 1/2 miles from school, you must have an approved safety hazard.  Example of a family with 2 students who live 1 mile from school (with an approved safety hazard):

           1     mi. (distance from home to school)
       x  4     (1 mi. to & from twice daily)
           4
x     .405     per mile
$    1.62
x     176     school days
$ 285.12    Total cost of driving your children
