ST. BARBARA SCHOOL
THURSDAY TIDBIT
God’s Words Guide Us March 23, 2006
PRINCIPAL NOTES: Our 7th and 8th grade students will be presenting the Living Stations on April 7th at 1:30 and 7:30 p.m. Please plan on attending this very moving religious experience. As always, we have Stations of the Cross beginning at 7:30 p.m. every Friday during Lent.
Thank you to Mr. Kevin Lynch and Mrs. Dana Veselsky and all of the parents who came and helped them in organizing the Irish Fest. They put in much time and effort so that everyone who attended could have a great time! It’s fun being Irish for a day!
Parents, it is very important that you do not hand out treats of any kind to our students. All food items should be given to the teacher. Some of our students have food allergies which the teachers are aware of. Younger children may not know what is in certain foods. While we realize parents are trying to be nice, this could create a very dangerous situation. Also, because of Food Service Professional’s rules (our Hot Lunch Program), outside food should NEVER be given out in the lunchroom.
MARRIAGE PROTECTION REFERENDUM, Sign a Petition-March 25&26
We need 283,000 valid signatures by April 20, 2006 to place the Protect Marriage Illinois Referendum on the November 2006 ballot. Illinois has a fundamental interest in protecting and preserving traditional marriage. Our communities flourish socially, economically, and in many other ways due to the stability and strength that marriage provides our society. Our responsibility is to ask, “What is in the best interest of the children?” Illinois has the DOMA law, Illinois Defense of Marriage Act, which defines marriage as a union of one man and one woman, but it is just a matter of time before an activist judge will take a case that challenges that law and rules it “unconstitutional”. Only by clearly and permanently defining marriage in our state constitution can the people of Illinois protect and preserve marriage in our state. Petitions will be available at all the masses the weekend of March 25&26. Send a strong message to our Illinois lawmakers that protecting marriage as one-man, one-woman, is a priority. For more information contact Cate Hansen, Respect Life Coordinator.
“(Children) have the right to be born and to be raised in a family founded on marriage”
