ST. BARBARA SCHOOL
THURSDAY TIDBIT
God’s Words Guide Us May 18, 2006
PRINCIPAL NOTES: Please watch for the School Board’s letter and survey coming home today under separate cover.
There is still time to sign up to help for this weekend’s Casino Nights. If you’re worried about being a dealer, there is training available. Try to attend this Casino Night and observe so you’ll be ready for our next Casino Night. You’ll be surprised at how much fun our dealers have!
All Kindergartners, second and sixth graders should have a dental form on file in the school office (dated in the last 18 months). Forms were due on May 15th. I will be sending letters home soon to the families who have not complied with this STATE LAW.
We are looking for someone to coordinate children’s games for our Parish Picnic to be held on Sunday, June 4th. There are some prizes available from our FSA. Funding to purchase more prizes will be donated by the Men’s Club.
Sister Margaret’s food pantry will be relocating sometime after Memorial Day to 9300 West 47th Street. The exact moving date will be announced in a future tidbit.
A heartfelt THANK YOU to all who helped in preparing our children for the reception of their First Eucharist and Confirmation.
The first day of school will be a ½ day on Wednesday, August 23, 2006.
Don’t forget to do your Transportation Reimbursement.
BLACKJACK AND POKER TRAINING FOR CASINO NIGHTS:
Please join us on Thursday night at 7:30 pm for blackjack and poker training. This training will be held in the Parish Center. Even if you are not scheduled to deal at our upcoming Spring Casino Nights this weekend, come on out and try your hand at dealing. You know it can't hurt to try. It's a lot of fun!!!
CASINO NIGHTS ’06 !!!!!!! Well, the time is here! Tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. (a reminder for the extra hands that are decorating and/or setting up) the Parish Center will begin to turn into a Casino. The fun and excitement will begin. People will be shouting, wheels will be spinning, cards may even be flying come tomorrow night! If you would still like to help in some way, please just stop in at the Gym tomorrow morning (bring scissors) or contact Steffanie at 447-0983. We could always use a little extra help.
HOT LUNCH ORDERS ARE DUE WEDNESDAY, MAY 31ST.
SCHOOL BOARD NEWS:
School Board is still looking for a few good people to fill open positions. If you are interested, please try to attend our next board meeting scheduled for Tuesday, May 23rd at 7:00 p.m. in Prairie Room A. An agenda for the meeting is attached.
Also, the Walk-A-Thon is Wednesday, May 24th at 10:30 a.m. in front of the school. Don't forget to gather your sponsors and turn in all donations on the day of the walk. If you need a new sponsor sheet, they are available in the school office. Either call the office to have one sent home with your child or stop in to get one.
Under separate cover, please see the School Board survey and take a few moments to fill it out and return it. Your participation is vital to our understanding the needs of our families and assessing any improvements that might need to be made. Thank you.
OUT OF UNIFORM: On Tuesday, May 23rd, the students may be out of uniform wearing our school colors, blue and gold or spring-like colors. This is to show our school spirit in the anticipation of the very exciting Faculty/Staff vs. 8th grade volleyball game at 1:00 that day. We expect a real nail bitter! Students may bring pom-poms or other cheering items to support the team of their choice during this fun-filled afternoon!
MARKET DAY: Orders can be placed in the mailbox until Wednesday, May 24th. Pick up is on Saturday the 27th in the Parish Center. Pre-4 and 3rd graders and their parents are our volunteers this month. We understand that this is a holiday weekend, but please try to come and help. We really need it. Please meet us in the Parish Center at 9am, treats will be served!

HOW DOES OUR GARDEN GROW? It grows with the energetic help of the 2nd grade parents, grandparents, students, and the kindness of others. The sprout sale, the garden clean-up, and the plantings contributed to the overall success of our garden project this year. Ms. Erazmus and I would like to thank you for your hard work and support. The garden looks renewed, colorful, and inviting. Please care for it and enjoy it! Mrs. Pat Fitzpatrick
