PRINCIPAL NOTES:
On Thursday, September 14th, we will have our Opening of the School Year Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. in the church. The children do not have to be in uniform, but dressed appropriately for church. I thank you for your support of Catholic education!
Parent teacher conferences will be held on Sunday, November 12th. There WILL BE class on Monday, November 13th. With this early notice, please make every effort to keep your appointment on that day.
Please join us on Monday, September 25th at 8:30 a.m. for the annual Police Blessing. We extend a warm invitation to all people who are in law enforcement to join us!
Gold C Books will be distributed to school parents tonight at Parent Orientation.
CONGRATULATIONS to the St. Barbara School students who successfully completed the summer reading program at the Brookfield Public Library: We are very proud of all of you!
ATTENTION ALL SCHOOL PARENTS: If you plan on working with the students or being around them in any capacity, i.e. library mom/dad, lunchtime supervisor, field trip chaperone, etc., you must complete a criminal background check, if you have not already done so. Please contact Mrs. Carone in the office for instructions on how to complete the background check. If you have already completed this check with another catholic school, please go online and add St. Barbara School and Parish to your listing.
In addition to completing the criminal background check, you must also attend a one-time Virtus session. You can log onto www.virtus.com to sign up for a meeting in your area. If you have already completed a Virtus meeting, please send a copy of your certificate to the school office for our files. If you have any questions concerning either of these, please feel free to call Mrs. Carone in the school office, 485-0806.
MORNING EXTENDED CARE: As of Monday, September 11, 2006, AM Care will be offered from 7:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. The cost per student is as follow ($2.50 per student per hour or fraction there of): 7:00a.m. – 8:30 a.m., $5.00 per student (1 ½ hours); 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m., $2.50 per student (1 hour).
VISION & HEARING TESTING: Proviso Township will be conducting vision and hearing screenings on Wednesday, September 13th and Thursday, September 14th. All NEW students will be screened for both vision and hearing along with any teacher referrals for students to be tested. All students in grades preschool, kindergarten, and 2nd will be tested for vision and hearing. Students in 1st and 3rd grade will be tested for hearing only. Students in 5th & 8th grade will be tested for vision only.
BINGO NEWS: Bingo is tomorrow, Friday, September 8th.

MANNA CERTIFICATE PROGRAM: The weekly ordering schedule resumes this Monday, September 11th. Information on the program will be available in the family folders at Parent Orientation tonight. Please be sure to read through everything as there are many changes to the program that start next week.
HOME RUN INN PIZZA DAY: Forms for the first Fun Lunch/Fund Raiser to be held September 19th are due September 12th. Home Run Inn pizza can be ordered by the slice and you will again have the option of pre-paying for a soda. PLEASE NOTE THAT HOT LUNCH WILL NOT BE SERVED ON THIS DAY. If you do not order for your child, please send a lunch from home.

LYONS TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL: LTHS is inviting students and a parent/guardian to be their guest at many LT activities for which admission would normally be charged. Each student in grades 1st – 8th should have received a Junior Lion Club card today. This will provide an opportunity to see plays, attend musical performances or watch athletic events at LT.
