Surprise Someone With a Random Act of Kindness October 26, 2006
PRINCIPAL NOTES: ANYONE WHO HAS ATTENDED A VIRTUS MEETING, PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT MRS. CARONE HAS A COPY OF THE CERTIFICATE IN THE SCHOOL OFFICE. If we don’t have the certificate, we have no way of knowing who has attended.
I hope you’re all planning on dressing up and walking with the students in our Annual Halloween Parade. Kick-off will be at 11:00 on October 31st! This will be a half-day of school.
Now that the colder weather is upon us, please dress your child appropriately for recess. Students are not allowed in the school building during recess.
Please remember that the girls should be wearing the gym sweat pants or navy or black pants under their skirts during the cold weather. Pajama pants, etc are not allowed.
We are looking for some “garden angels” who would be interested in cleaning up the school garden and preparing it for winter. Please contact the school office if you’re interested.
The FSA meeting for November has been changed to Monday, November 13th.
THE CHICAGO SINFONIETTA PROGRAM has begun! St. Barbara’s 4th and 7th graders, along with band members, have been selected by the Sinfonietta to participate in the “Audience Matters” program. Professional musicians are coming to school to introduce our students to classical music and composers, and to discuss how music reflects historical and current cultures. We are so excited to be able to participate in this cultural experience.
OCTOBER IS RESPECT LIFE MONTH: It’s normal to grieve a pregnancy loss, including a loss of a child by abortion. It can form a hole in one’s heart, a hole so deep that sometimes it seems nothing can fill the emptiness.
A special word to women who have had an abortion: The Church is aware of the many factors which may have influenced your decision, and does not doubt that in many cases it was a painful and even shattering decision. The wound in your heart may not have yet healed. Certainly what happened was and remains terribly wrong. But do not give in to discouragement and do not lose hope. Try rather to understand what happened and face it honestly. If you have not already done so, give yourselves over with humility and trust to repentance. The Father of mercies is ready to give you His forgiveness and His peace in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. You will come to understand that nothing is definitively lost and you will also be able to ask forgiveness from your child, who is now living with the Lord. ( Pope John Paul II, Gospel of Life)
