ST. BARBARA SCHOOL
THURSDAY TIDBIT
Surprise Someone With a Random Act of Kindness January 11, 2007
PRINCIPAL NOTES: I made a general announcement to all the boys asking that they get their hair cut before Tuesday, January 16th. Parents will be called on Tuesday to come and pick up any boy who comes to school with hair below his collar or hanging in his eyes.
If you have not already done so, please be sure to return your response to the survey for enrollment in the 2007-08 school year.
Receipts for Qualified Education Expenses for your 2006 tax preparation are being sent home today under separate cover. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Angela Lawler at 485-6151.
Congratulations to Eric Lawler and Kevin Skinner who were recipients of the St. Rita High School Mustang Award. The presentation ceremony took place last Sunday at St. Rita.
Cold weather is upon us. Please be sure your child/ren are dressed appropriately for recess. As long as it is not raining and the wind chill is reasonable, the students will play outside at lunch.
Parents, please be sure to put your child’s name or initials on the tags of their uniform, coats, hats, etc. We have numerous articles of clothing in our lost and found which could be returned to the owner if only the names were on the tags.
PLEASE BE ADVISED: Report cards will be issued on Friday, January 19th. The St. Barbara Tuition Policy states (in the Parent/Student Handbook) that monthly payments are due on the 17th of each month and that report cards will be distributed in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters provided tuition payments are current. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Angela Lawler at 485-6151.
REMINDER: There is no school on Monday, January 15th in honor of Martin Luther King Day.

St. Barbara Vigil for Life
January 22 at 7:00pm in Church
January 22, 2007 is the 34th anniversary of Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton, the U.S. Supreme Court decisions that opened the door to abortion on demand throughout all nine months of pregnancy and even during birth. Since 1973, more than 46 million children have been aborted in our nation. Thousands of women and men suffer in silence in the pews of our parishes, while many have left the Church entirely because of the abortion experience. As the Body of Christ, we are left with the significant task of reaching out with Christ’s hope and healing to those suffering from post-abortion aftermath, while peacefully working to prevent the additional killings of thousands of innocents right here in our own communities. The prayers and penance of the faithful and the ministry of those dedicated to the cause of life will ultimately transform our culture into one that cherishes and protects every human life, no matter how unformed, broken, guilty or vulnerable that life might be.
Monday, January 22, 2007, has been designated by the Catholic Bishops as a Day of Penance for the violations to the dignity of the human person. St. Barbara Respect Life Committee invites you to gather in church at 7pm for Eucharistic Adoration, a Vigil for Life, and Rosary. Build a Culture of Life in 2007. Questions?
If you or someone you know is suffering because of an abortion, don’t suffer alone. For confidential help, call 312-337-1962 or see: www.hopeafterabortion.com
