PRINCIPAL NOTES: Fr. Larry Janowski, O.F.M., will talk about the role of prayer in daily life at 7:30 p.m. today (Thursday, Sept. 11) in Church. This is the first in a series of monthly adult education programs sponsored by St. Barbara's Evangelization Team.
The Virtus class being held in our Parish Center this Saturday, September 13th, at 9:00 a.m. still has a few openings. For those parents who have not yet attended a Virtus session, please take advantage of the convenient location and sign up today!
Stop by our Parish Center tomorrow and play BINGO! It should be a great time!
SISTER MARGARET DESPERATELY NEEDS YOUR HELP! The attendance at the food pantry has doubled recently. Last week they ran out of food! Sr. Margaret is asking for any kind of non-perishable food, specifically the following broken down by grade level:
PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS! The date for class pictures has been changed to Tuesday, September 30th. This will be a dress up, out-of-uniform day with appropriate clothing. Information for ordering pictures will be sent home soon with the students. If you have any questions, please call Dawn D []
The November FSA meeting has been changed to Tuesday, November 11th.
OUT OF UNIFORM DAYS:
VISION & HEARING TESTING: Proviso Township will be conducting vision and hearing screenings on Wednesday, September 17th and Thursday, September 18th. All NEW students will be screened for both vision and hearing along with any teacher referrals for students to be tested. All students in grades preschool, kindergarten, and 2nd will be tested for vision and hearing. Students in 1st and 3rd grade will be tested for hearing only. Students in 5th & 8th grade will be tested for vision only.
PIZZA REMINDER: Home Run Inn pizza forms are due on Friday, September 19th. No extras will be ordered so please remember to get your forms in on time. FOOTSTEPS FOR MARIA: Bracelets and Whistles ($1/ea) and T-Shirts ($5/ea) will be on sale at lunch tomorrow and next Friday, September 19th. Every t-shirt purchase is entered into a drawing for a Beanie Baby. **Friday, September 19th will be an Out Of Uniform Day. Each child should bring a donation of at least 50 cents. MANNA CERTIFICATE PROGRAM: Jiffy Lube is back in $25.00 denominations with a 10% discount. Walgreens $20.00 cards are no longer available. They are now available in $25.00 and $100.00 denominations only. If anyone ordered Walgreens this week at the old denomination, your order will be filled and will include a reminder of the amount owed with your next order. Amoco (BP) is now available in $50.00 denominations with a 3% discount.
HELP US EARN DOUBLE BOX TOPS...Box Tops is offering a special promotion thru 10/31/08 ONLY. Using the collection sheet included in today's tidbit for 30 coupons, our school can earn an additional 30 coupons. There is one rule, ONLY TWO (2) COLLECTION SHEETS CAN BE SUBMITTED PER HOUSEHOLD. Please make copies and share it with family and friends. This year we will be doing a variety of contests along with a school year long goal, "Going for the Gold". Make sure your name and grade are on all collection sheets & ziploc bags of items submitted so your class receives credit for them. Again this year, all items Box Tops/Campbell UPC's/Tyson Labels & Milk Caps will count towards all the contests. Our first collection for "A Buddies Exchange" contest will be this Friday, Sept. 12th. LYONS TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL: LTHS is inviting students and a parent/guardian to be their guest at many LT activities for which admission would normally be charged. Each student in grades 1st – 8th should have received a Junior Lion Club card today. This will provide an opportunity to see plays, attend musical performances or watch athletic events at LT.
