PRINCIPAL NOTES Together with Religious Education, we will be celebrating the Beginning of the School Year Mass at the 9:15 Family Mass on Sunday, October 12th. We will notify you in the future via the Thursday Tidbit as to when we will be attending Friday morning Mass.
Safety Concern – Students running near the church unsupervised can be a real danger especially once the cones are brought into school.
I am happy to inform you that through your shopping sprees, and choosing our school to benefit each time you use your Target charge card, St. Barbara School has received a check in the amount of $386.27 from Target.
THE FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE will be meeting at 7pm on Tuesday, October 7th in Prairie Room A to plan our fundraising activities for the year. Please join us if you are available.
PET BLESSING: St. Barbara Church will have a pet blessing this Saturday, October 4th, at 10:00 in the Parish parking lot.

FIREFIGHTER BLESSING: The special blessing for all firefighters/paramedics will be Wednesday, October 8th at 8:30 a.m. in front of the school. The Brookfield Fire Department will be present and we welcome any other firefighters/paramedics who wish to join us.

SAINT BARBARA BAKERY will be open for business once again every Wednesday in October and November. The students seemed to really enjoy this last year, so we have decided to open our bakery doors again! Student Council will sell baked goods every Wednesday in the Windemere Room during the students' lunchtime. They will be selling cookies, brownies, cupcakes, etc. The children can buy a little treat after they have eaten their lunches. They can also purchase the baked goods to go and bring it home to share with their family.
YEARBOOK VOLUNTEERS: Volunteers are still needed for girl scouts, track and cheerleading. If someone does not come forward to do these pages, they will not be included in the yearbook. If you have any questions about doing a page or would like to do one, please call Dawn [see paper tidbit]
A BIG THANK YOU FROM FSA: FSA wants to thank everyone who helped with the Fall Fun Fair. It was a long hard day and we really appreciate your time and efforts. The numbers are not in yet, but we did very well. I will update everyone when I receive the official number. Thanks again, Alicia []
ST BARBARA QUILT: By now, every family should have received their quilt square. If anyone has not, or if there are any questions regarding the squares, please contact [see paper tidbit]. Replacement squares are available, if necessary. All squares are due by December 1, 2008.
MARKET DAY NEWS: A HUGE thank you goes out to all our helpers at this month's Market Day sale: [see paper tidbit] WOW! Our volunteers are the BEST! Our new Market Day Corporate Representative even commented on the wonderful volunteer spirit at St. Barbara. Our next sale is October 25th. Look for your order form and place your orders today via the school office or drop them in the Market Day mailbox outside the Rectory.
8TH GRADE FUNDRAISING NEWS: It's time to get your orders in! There is only 1 week left until the deadline of October 9th. Placing an order will entering you into the raffle and will help your child's class win a nacho treat. Don't delay, send your order in now!! The Class of 2009 appreciates your support.
OCTOBER IS RESPECT LIFE MONTH Life Chain, October 5th: On Sunday, October 5th, meet at Prairie and Ogden Avenues from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm for an annual gathering of all faiths and walks in life who stand in peaceful and prayerful witness that abortion is not a good choice for women and their unborn babies. Please bring your families and your neighbors to stand with us as we silently and lovingly proclaim that abortion is not a solution...it is a critical mistake. Try to arrive by 2:15 pm to park and take your position along Ogden. Plenty of parking is available in the Parish Center lot. Bring a chair if you need one. Signs will be provided if you wish to hold one. Even though we may not see immediate results, we know that the Life Chain and prayer changes minds and hearts. Questions? Call [see paper tidbit]
FOOTSTEPS FOR MARIA: Thank you to everyone for another successful fundraiser. St. Barbara School raised $424.95 with our Beanie Baby and T-shirt sales, our Out of Uniform Day, and family donations. Thank you, too, to those of you that fundraised individually and those that walked with us. Also, L.T. High School's Business Management Club raised $50.10 at their football games last Friday. As a team, we have currently raised $2,715! AWESOME! ~~Chris []

BAKE SALE FOR "HOPE IS ON THE WAY"-Baked Goods Needed: Please check inside for the flyer regarding the Bake Sale this weekend to support our 'parish missionaries'. This joint service project not only will offer assistance for 'Hope is on the Way', but also help build our community of faith with our school and religious education students. Please consider baking and/or assisting for the sale after all masses.
