We Are Called to Serve
November 6, 2008
[see paper tidbit for Honor Roll]
PRINCIPAL NOTES: All families are encouraged to come and pray and celebrate as one family at the next Family Mass at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday, November 9th.
It has been brought to my attention that many of the children in Extended Day are not bringing snacks. We do not give snacks out due to food allergies. Children are responsible for bringing their own snacks and not asking other children to share theirs. Some parents are feeling an obligation to send more snacks with their children in case others ask for some. I would appreciate your cooperation in sending your own snacks for your own children.
Our Trunk & Treat turned out great! I was so happy to see so many families participating. Our ghosts and goblins really enjoyed themselves. Thanks to FSA for coming up with so many clever ideas and for all of their dedication and hard work!
I hope to see you at Casino Nights this weekend. It’s always an enjoyable weekend with lots of action and excitement!
Remember that there is no school on Monday. Enjoy your long weekend!
Our Family School Association (FSA) is always looking for new members. Everyone is invited to our upcoming meeting on Tuesday, November 11th. This is a good way to form friendships with other school parents and to get involved in your child’s school activities. []
WE ARE CALLED TO SERVE: These students have demonstrated their willingness to serve others [ see paper tidbit]
NEW PASTOR INFORMATION: Please check inside for a form in which you may share your feelings with the Priests Placement Board, as they discern their decision for OUR new pastor. This form needs to be faxed or mailed to the placement board by MONDAY!
It is vitally important to show your thoughts and concerns for our new pastor, in writing as well as our support at the meeting last night! This is the best opportunity we have to inform the Placement Board of our desires for the finest pastor available for our parish.
VIRTUS SESSION: We will be holding a Virtus class in St. Barbara's PR-A on Sunday, November 16th at 1:00pm. You must register online at www.virtusonline.org.
TRANSPORTATION REIMBURSEMENT: If you live 1 1/2 miles or more from school, you do not have to do anything at this time. Only the families who live closer than 1 1/2 miles to school need to apply for a serious safety hazard. Once your serious safety hazard is approved, it is good for 4 school years. Everyone living more than 1 1/2 miles from school and those families with an approved safety hazard will need to come to the school office towards the end of the school year to actually file a claim for reimbursement. You will be notified through future Thursday Tidbits when the claim process has begun.
FSA NEWS: Although you may not need that winter jacket just yet... keep in mind that FSA is selling Christmas wreaths! Decorate your home with fresh, fragrant wreaths and garland! All at incredible prices! See enclosed flyer for details.
NEW DEALER TRAINING: New dealer training is scheduled for tonight from 7pm till 9pm in the gym. Please come and learn, refresh yourself or teach other people how to deal blackjack, poker or hold'em poker. If you are a new dealer for Fall Casino Nights, it is recommended that you join us, especially if you have any questions about dealing any of the games you will be working that weekend. []
BAKED GOODS NEEDED FOR CASINO NIGHT: We need goodies to serve our casino patrons. If you can contribute baked goods to Casino Nights it would be much appreciated. Baked items can be dropped off Friday during the day or brought to casino nights either night. Please drop me a line if you can help us out. []
CALLING ALL DECORATORS!!! The gym needs to be transformed into our Casino during the day tomorrow, Friday, November 7th. If you are available to help us decorate, please come to the gym anytime after drop-off. We have all of the supplies. We just need the extra hands to help us transform the gym into the wonderful Casino it can be. Remember, if you build the Casino, they will come...Hope to see you there.
MARKET DAY NEWS: A big thank you from the Market Day team goes to the [families who helped]! WOW - your support at our October Market Day sale was tremendous!
Don't forget: November=Market Day PIES! Help our school by purchasing pies for your holiday dinners using the convenient Market Day order form. Please also consider donating a pie or two to the less fortunate. Sr. Margaret will be putting together holiday meals for the poor, pies and all! Your generosity is sincerely appreciated. See enclosed pie order form for details.
The Market Day flyer says that pick up on November 22 will be in the Parish Center. This is in error. Pick up will be in the Windemere Room, as the Pumpkins 'n Holly Craft Show will be in the Parish Center on that day.
FOOD DONATIONS for Sr. Margaret's Food Pantry are due on Friday, November 14th. In addition to the items listed on the November calendar, Sr. Margaret is in desperate need of additional items for Thanksgiving. Please feel free to substitute items with the following: Stove Top stuffing, canned yams, canned cranberry sauce, disposable plates and silverware, instant mashed potatoes. Thanks for your generosity!
MANNA EXPRESS: Interested in lowering the cost of your tuition? Consider being a Manna Express certificate seller. [] Remember you do have control over your tuition cost.
