We Are Called to Serve
December 11, 2008
PRINCIPAL NOTES: Reminder that the Christmas Program is Thursday, December 18th at 6:30. Because the students may get to bed later than usual that evening, WE WILL NOT BE ATTENDING 8:00 MASS THE NEXT MORNING, Friday, December 19th. Our school day will begin at 8:30. Extended Day will open at 7:00 a.m. as usual.
There seems to be more children tardy than necessary. A child is tardy if they enter the school after the 8:30 bell. Students should be in line outside before 8:30 to say the Pledge of Allegiance with their class. Also, remember that our school day on Fridays begins with 8:00 Mass. Students should be in their classrooms by 7:50. All students are expected to be there. This is not a day for any student to have a "late start".
I'm very pleased to inform you that through the efforts and hard work of our school families, our Casino Nights turned a profit of $14,690.81. Again, thanks to Steff W., Chris and Russ J. and to all of our parent volunteers who made this possible!
Parents, please keep in mind when packing your child's lunch that students are not able to warm up lunches at school. Also, students should bring their own eating utensils (forks, spoons, etc.) as they are not available at school.
Many thanks from Sr. Margaret for the $175.70 that was collected for the Adopt-a-Family fund! She is truly grateful for all that our school families do to help her in her ministry.
The informative flyer enclosed entitled Healthy Youth Initiative Update may be interesting to the parents of older children.
WE ARE CALLED TO SERVE: These students have demonstrated their willingness to serve others through the weeks of November 24th - December 5th: [see paper tidbit].
CHRISTMAS PROGRAM REMINDERS: The Christmas Program begins at 6:30 p.m. The students are asked to be in their seats by 6:15. Band students should be at church by 6:00. Mr. Enns will be looking for a few band members to help him move the music stands from the Music Room before and after the performance. Kindergarten students should sit with their parents until called by their teacher. Preschoolers should meet in the children's room in the back of the church at 6:15. As always, we would appreciate all picture taking and/or videotaping to take place from the back of the church or from the pew in which you are seated. Aisles need to remain clear at all times. As a courtesy to those videotaping, please try to refrain from talking. Also, please remember that this is a performance and we should respect that by remaining quiet. Out of respect for all the students, it would be greatly appreciated if you would stay for the entire show. Thank you for your cooperation!
OUT-OF-UNIFORM: Tomorrow the students can be out of uniform with a minimum 50 cent donation to help children with a clef palate. Friday, December 19th, will also be an out-of-uniform day. Students can wear green and red to celebrate the Christmas holidays! Jeans and gym shoes will be allowed. Any clothing with inappropriate wording, pictures, etc. is not allowed.
