IF YOU DID NOT RETURN THE SHEET INDICATING HOW YOU WOULD LIKE TO RECEIVE THE TIDBITS IN THE NEW YEAR, PLEASE DO SO ASAP.

PRINCIPAL NOTES : We will NOT be attending 8:00 Mass tomorrow morning due to the late night the students will have this evening.

Sr. Margaret is always in need of food donations throughout the year. Anytime you have any donations to make, please know that they can be dropped off at the school.

I would like to extend warm wishes from Fr. Mark Kalema to all our school families for a very Blessed Christmas and Happy, Healthy New Year. Fr. Mark Kalema was an Associate Priest here at St. Barbara Parish a few years back. Each year we continue to raise money to help his home village in Uganda.

CHRISTMAS PROGRAM REMINDERS The Christmas Program for Thursday, Dec. 18th has been postponed due to projected winter storm

GEOGRAPHY BEE : This year, Saint Barbara's participated in the Annual National Geographic Bee. The bee was given to the 7th & 8th grade students. There were three rounds in the bee. The 1st round was held during their Social Studies classes and we had ten finalists. [] The 2nd and 3rd rounds were held last Friday and the whole school came to cheer them on! We had a blast! It was so exciting! The contestants had to answer written and oral questions about Geography. Finally, [two students] made it to the Championship Round where they competed for first place. They both did a fantastic job! [see paper tidbit] won the competition! He will submit a 70 question written exam to qualify for a place in the State Competition. We are so proud of all of our students for working so hard and congratulations[]!

JANUARY CALENDAR : The January calendar will be sent home, once it is finalized, with the January 8, 2009 tidbit. In the meantime, you can view the tentative January calendar at our school website.

OUT-OF-UNIFORM : Tomorrow, Friday, December 19th, will be an out-of-uniform day. Students can wear green and red to celebrate the Christmas holidays! Jeans and gym shoes will be allowed. Any clothing with inappropriate wording, pictures, etc. is not allowed.

2ND GRADE FAMILIES : An important letter from the Religious Education office was sent home the week of 12/4 regarding the sacrament of Eucharist for your child. If you have not received the letter or have any concerns, please contact us at 485.4610 or religioused@stbarbaraparish.com.

CAP & GOWN RETAKES : Retakes for 8th grade cap & gown pictures will be Friday, January 23rd. You must bring in your proofs if you are having retakes. Only the cap & gown pictures will be taken, the casual pictures will not.

YEARBOOK : Congratulations to the [] family, winners of the free yearbook! Orders are still being taken. The cost is $24.00 per book, checks payable to St. Barbara School.

THANK YOU to the following volunteers who helped with Santa's Secret Workshop: [] Your help was greatly appreciated! Congratulations to [] who won the "secret" raffle for the volunteers!

THANK YOU from [a student] . Through your generosity, [she] was able to collect $171.31 to send to The Smile Train to help improve other children's lives.

FOOTBALL MANIA WINNERS : Our school has TWO MORE WINNERS! Congratulations to [] who won $100 and [] who won $200!

MARKET DAY REMINDER : Our Market Day pick-up is this Saturday, December 20th, with our 7th grade families as helpers. Volunteers, please arrive at the Parish Center by 9:15. Thank you!

REMINDER: Tomorrow, Friday, December 19th is collection day for the "Holiday Gift Surprise" contest for Box Tops, Campbell's, Tyson and Milk Caps!
