ST. BARBARA SCHOOL

THURSDAY TIDBIT

We Are Called to Serve
January 8, 2009

PRINCIPAL NOTES: Welcome back! I hope everyone had a restful and Blessed Christmas!

We received many compliments on our new automated calling system. Please advise us if you encountered a problem. We are asking that whenever you see the school phone number on your Caller ID, please listen for the message before calling us back. We were bombarded with phone calls immediately following the telephone broadcast. Had there been an emergency in the school building, our phone lines would have been tied up thereby paralyzing us if we needed help.

Today begins the new procedure for the Thursday Tidbit. The Tidbit cover page(s) will be emailed to those who signed up. Please contact Mrs. Carone if you encounter any problems receiving your emailed Tidbit. All forms should be available on line at our school website www.stbarbaraschool.com. Everyone should remember that the Thursday Tidbits (past and present) can also be found on the school website. To all the families continuing to receive a paper copy of the Tidbit, please remember that forms will only be sent home once. If you misplace your form, you can download it from the website. If you do not have Internet access, you can call the school office for another form to be sent home.

Please be sure to read the enclosed schedule for Catholic Schools Week (also available on the school website). I hope everyone will plan on joining us at the 11:00 Mass on Sunday, January 25th and also visiting our Open House immediately following the Mass. Our 7th and 8th grade student's Invention Convention will be on display in the Windemere Room along with the 5th grade Biomes and 6th grade owl pellet dissections.

If you have not already done so, please be sure to return your response to the survey for enrollment in the 2008-09 school year.

Congratulations to our 7th grade teacher, Ms. Cathy Miller, on receiving her Masters Degree!

St. Barbara's Office of Pastoral Care would like to extend to each of our thoughtful and caring families their heartfelt gratitude for all the various signs of caring shown to families in need in our area and surrounding areas of Brookfield. You helped to bring much joy to the lives of others. A very special thank you goes out to Mrs. Mary D., the mother of our kindergartner [], for securing a donation of 21 turkeys from Kroger Foods. Her efforts helped to feed many people and helped to brighten their holidays! You're wonderful Mary!

Receipts for Qualified Education Expenses for your 2008 tax preparation are being sent home today under separate cover.

Plan on attending our next FSA meeting this Monday, January 12th in the Faculty Room at 7:00 p.m. All are welcome!

Thanks so very much to all of you for your kind thoughts, prayers, wishes and generous gifts to all of us during the holiday season! A special thanks for sharing your most precious gift of all with us...your children! We wish you all a blessed New Year!

Next, we are doing a "We Love Our Staff" collection. The staff has all supplied a young picture of themselves between the ages of two and five. The students will be using their Box Tops, Campbell's, Tyson and Milk Caps to VOTE at lunch for the "cutest staff picture". A new collection sheet is attached.
