THE SECOND $500 EARLY BIRD DRAWING FOR THE DERBY RAFFLE IS SATURDAY, APRIL 18TH AT CASINO NIGHT! DON'T FORGET TO PURCHASE YOUR TICKETS!
PRINCIPAL NOTES: Please read carefully the Chicago Sinfonietta Update on Page 2 of the tidbit.
Beginning Monday, April 27th and going through Thursday, May 28th we will be adding 15 minutes onto our school day in order to make up for the snow day. Therefore, dismissal during this time frame will be at 3:00. Thank you for your cooperation.
Due to the short week next week, we will not be having a tidbit. Please be sure to check your child's folder for any information coming home next week under separate cover.
Parents of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders should walk over to the school building from the parking lot to pick up their children at the school. While there is a crossing guard to help them across the street, there is potential danger with the smaller children walking through the parking lot with cars pulling out.
DESIGN AN AD CONTEST RESULTS: Congratulations to our winners and participants for their creative work displayed in the Landmark Newspaper!
ALUMNI NEWS: [See paper/email tidbit for names of our] alumni [who] made the Honor Roll at their high schools, St Joseph High School , Lyons Township High School.

BASEBALL HAS FINALLY ARRIVED! To help celebrate the opening day of Chicago Cubs and White Sox baseball, the students may wear their favorite baseball team apparel / accessories with their uniforms on Monday, April 6th. Baseball themed t-shirts, jerseys, etc. can be worn over the uniform. Team baseball hats will also be permitted. THIS IS NOT AN OUT-OF-UNIFORM DAY!
OUT-OF-UNIFORM: Wednesday, April 8th to benefit Neurofibromatiosis-a genetic disorder that causes tumors on various nerves. See enclosed flyer for more details.
CHICAGO SINFONIETTA UPDATE: To continue our study of the orchestra and classical music, the Chicago Sinfonietta asked us to listen to Kodaly's piece, "Hary Janos" and have the students draw what the music meant to them. [Two students'] artwork was selected to be displayed at Orchestra Hall in Chicago during the last Sinfonietta Concert! Congratulations!
Thank you to all who attended the concerts at Dominican University and Orchestra Hall. The Sinfonietta and their sponsors are anxious for us to take advantage of their generous offer of free tickets. If they find that we are not coming to hear the music the students are studying in the classrooms with the musicians, we may lose the grant. Having St. Barbara represented at the concerts is a great way for us to show how important participating in the "Audience Matters" program is to our school children.
