ST. BARBARA SCHOOL

THURSDAY TIDBIT

Shining Stars for the Future
September 17, 2009

PRINICPAL NOTES: Please join us tonight in the Windemere Room for the Health Awareness Seminar beginning at 7:00.

I want to welcome Russell Jablonski to our School Advisory Board. Our officers for the new school year are President, Juan Gamboa; Vice President, Dennis Tischler; Secretary, Maria Sarli Perez.

It’s been brought to my attention again that there are parents smoking outside the school building when the students are present. I would appreciate your cooperation at this time and ask you not to smoke in front of the school children. I think we need to keep in mind that children learn from our example. Also, please do not bring pets with you to school. There are some children who have allergies and are afraid.

I’d like to congratulate Leah E for helping out at Hines VA Hospital this summer. Leah worked at Hines to help in the organizing of surgical equipment so that they were sterile and ready for use for surgery. Thanks for giving back to the community, Leah!

A correction was issued from the Brookfield Library. Ashley G also participated in their summer reading program. Good job, Ashley!

We are looking for a volunteer who will bring mail to the post office when necessary. If interested, please call the school office.

Thanks to FSA for the magnetic calendars. If you did not receive one, please contact the school office.

SCHOOL PRAYER: All students received a copy of the school prayer that they recite each morning. There is also a copy in today’s tidbit. Please review this prayer with your child. Thank you to our 8th graders, Jessica S, Eric S and Jacquie S, for composing this beautiful prayer for us!

CROSS COUNTRY NEWS: We competed in our first meet of the year with 22 other schools this past Saturday. Our runners' results reflect hard work, good training and team spirit. Members of the team are: [see paper/email tidbit]. We have 4 more meets this season and welcome any new runners. For more information please contact Juan Gamboa or Rich Slehofer. If this isn’t the right time for you as a runner, we hope to see you on the track team in the spring. You can find the Cross Country schedule online.

FEAR FACTOR has been changed to Friday, October 30th.

IT'S OKTOBERFEST TIME AGAIN! Please join us on Saturday, October 17th at 6:00pm. It’s our 14th year and we've held the line on the ticket price – same $22 as last year! What’s that - you’d like to help too? Great! Please see the order form attached (and on the school website) to order tickets and to volunteer! Danke!
