ST. BARBARA SCHOOL
THURSDAY TIDBIT
December 20, 2007
PRINCIPAL NOTES: We will NOT be attending 8:00 Mass tomorrow morning due to the late night the students will have this evening.
It has been brought to my attention that parents are letting their children out of cars on Prairie Avenue curbside as well as the middle of the street! This could create a very dangerous situation. There was a close call when an emergency vehicle with lights only (no siren) was coming through the intersection. I’m asking that you follow our drop off procedures for the safety of your children and listen to the instructions of the crossing guard and patrol.
Thanks so very much to all of you for your kind thoughts, prayers, wishes and generous gifts to all of us during the holiday season! A special thanks for sharing your most precious gift of all with us…your children! We wish you all a blessed New Year!
Congratulations to [] this month’s cash raffle winner!
CHRISTMAS PROGRAM REMINDERS: The Christmas Program begins tonight at 6:30 p.m. The students are asked to be in their seats by 6:15. Band students should also be at church by 6:00. Mr. Enns will be looking for a few band members to help him move the music stands from the Music Room before and after the performance. Kindergarten students should sit with their parents until called by Mrs. Turek. Preschoolers should meet in the children's room in the back of the church at 6:15. As always, we would appreciate all picture taking and/or videotaping to take place from the back of the church or from the pew in which you are seated. Aisles need to remain clear at all times. Also, please try to refrain from talking; remember this is a performance and we should respect that. Thank you for your cooperation!
GEOGRAPHY BEE: This year, Saint Barbara's participated in the Annual National Geographic Bee. The bee was given to the 7th & 8th grade students. There were three rounds in the bee. The 1st round was held during their Social Studies classes and we had ten finalists. The 2nd and 3rd rounds were held last Friday and the whole school came to cheer them on! We had a blast! It was so exciting! The contestants had to answer written and oral questions about Geography. Finally, two students made it to the Championship Round where they competed for first place. They both did a fantastic job! [] won the competition! She will submit a 70 question written exam to qualify for a place in the State Competition. We are so proud of all of our students for working so hard and congratulations []
