***********REMINDER***********
St. Barbara School
Town Hall Meeting
Thursday, March 6th at 7:00 p.m.
Parish Center Gym
PRINCIPAL NOTES: Please join us this Monday in the Faculty Room for our FSA meeting which begins at 7:30. Please feel most welcome. We could use some input on future events for our students!
Please continue taking your children to church each weekend. Also, please join the St. Barbara Parish community for the Stations of the Cross each Friday during Lent at 7:30 p.m. in the Church. The Living Stations will be on March 14th at 1:30 and 7:30pm in the Church.
OUT-OF-UNIFORM: Members of the Brookfield Police Department are shaving their heads in order to raise money for a local student who attends Lincoln Elementary School. This young man was diagnosed with cancer and any proceeds raised will be donated to the family to assist with his treatment costs. Our DARE officer, Officer Mihalik, is having his head shaved and has asked us to participate in this worthwhile cause. Rather than take pledges, St. Barbara School will hold an out-of-uniform day with each participating child bringing in a minimum donation of 50 cents. Any checks can be made payable to Lyons FOP Lodge #44. This out-of-uniform day will be on Thursday, March 13th, which is also the day of the "shaving". If time permits, hopefully Officer Mihalik will visit the school so we can see his new "do".
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MRS. JAMES! We inadvertently left Mrs. James' birthday off the calendar.[]
EASTER FOOD DRIVE: Sr. Margaret has asked for our help with an Easter food collection. We are asking the students in each grade to bring in specific items, although Sister Margaret would be happy with any donation. Preschool & Kdg: Jello and/or pudding 5th grade: Hot chocolate 1st grade: Crackers 6th grade: Juice 2nd grade: Cookies 7th grade: Canned sweet potatoes 3rd grade: Cake mix/frosting 8th grade: Canned fruit 4th grade: Coffee
The food pantry has a pretty good amount of canned vegetables but they can always use more.
EGG-PALOOZA: The 8th grade students are sponsoring their ninth annual fundraiser for Father Mark's village. Father Mark was a priest at our parish. As we got to know him, we also became aware of the people of his village in Uganda. The economic level of this village is below the poverty line. In the past, the 8th graders have raised money to buy such animals as pigs, goats, and chickens. Once again, we are raising money to help the villagers. The 8th grade students will be selling Easter eggs for 50 cents each. The eggs are filled with gift certificates from such businesses as Cafe Salsa, Build-A-Bear Workshops, Chili's, Walgreen's, candy and cookies from Trader Joes, and other prizes. Our EGGFEST will take place from March 10th through March 14th. Please see attachment.
APRIL HOT LUNCH: Orders for April lunch are due in the office by next Friday, March 14th by 2:30 pm. Thank you.
